Who We Are

Gunner’s Run Rescue is an Illinois licensed 501c3 non-for profit dog rescue. A small home foster based Rescue that has been in operation for 15 years and operates on a strictly voluntary basis with no paid staff.
Our Story
Gunner’s Run Rescue was established in honor of a very special dog who passed away. All dogs rescued and helped are done for you, Gunner. You will never be forgotten. We are a small group of individuals dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing environment for dogs, giving them love, one-on-one attention, and basic obedience training, full veterinary care , with the ultimate goal of adoption to their forever family. We do not have a shelter all of our dogs are kept in our home and given the one on one attention that they need. We are an all breed rescue- focusing our attention on dogs that are in immediate need of placement from animal control or shelters that have to euthanize due to lack of space.
Adopt Don’t Shop
Please consider shelter and rescue dogs first- dogs in puppy stores and markets usually come from puppy-mills until you have seen the conditions that these cute puppies parents have had to live in and and the horrible life these dogs have to endure just to be treated like livestock to produce dogs for profit. Never purchase a dog without seeing the parents and the conditions the dogs are kept in- this not only saves you the anguish of getting a dog that is sick or has congenital deformities due to in-breeding- but makes the breeders more accountable. If they don’t want you to see where the dogs are kept or sell dogs a fairs and markets there is a reason. There are good dog breeders also – you just need to do your research. We are an official state licensed in Illinois and are a non-for profit 501c3 organization. Please email us if you live in the metro-east Il/Mo area and would like to volunteer or foster- please contact Tammi Craig for more info via email. We would love to have more foster homes-please call if you would like to help- all expenses are paid for the dog that is fostered.
